What will be needed for embroidery

To begin this magical endeavor, gather your supplies, including:

Once everything is at hand, secure the fabric in embroidery hoops to maintain tension and create a smooth work surface.

How to create a simple flower and leaf design

Before you start, keep in mind that it doesn’t have to be a very fancy or complicated design, just a basic one.

  1. Select the side of the fabric on which you want to embroider the flower and leaves.
  2. Start drawing a small circle with a pencil. This small circle will be the center of the flower.
  3. Add four points around the circle like a cross, these will be the end points of the flower petals.
  4. Draw a semicircle from the point on either side to create the petals around the center of the flower.
  5. Repeat the same technick for 3 other points to create 4 petals.
  6. To draw the leaves, you can use the same technique you used to draw the petals. But to look like leaves, you need to draw a semi-oval so that the leaves are a little longer.
  7. Draw a central line down in the middle of the leaf from top to bottom.
  8. Once is done, you are ready to embroider.

How to embroider flower petals?

  1. Insert the needle from the back side of the fabric onto the face side. Step back a millimeter and push the needle back from the front of the fabric to the wrong side. This will form a loop.
  2. Move the needle to the top of the petal and pull the thread through the wrong side of the face fabric.
  3. Before pulling out the needle with thread, completely hook the loop formed before this. This will be the beginning of the embroidery of the petal.
  4. Move the needle to the bottom of the petal.
  5. After pulling out the thread, hold it with your finger, this will help in the next step.
  6. Step back a millimeter and pass the needle through the face side of the fabric so that the end of the needle is at the bottom of the petal and the beginning of the needle is at the top of the petal.
  7. Push the thread which you were holding by finger under the begining part of the needle and pull the needle out of the fabric.
  8. Continue the same technique to complete the petal embroidery.

How to embroider the center of a flower?

  1. To embroider the center of the flower, push the needle from the wrong side of the fabric to the outside.
  2. Wind the thread 4 times on the needle and push the needle back from the front side.
  3. Repeat this technique five times to fill in the center of the flower.

How to embroider a leaf

Start embroidering the leaf on top.

  1. Pull the needle from the wrong side of the fabric to the outside, this will be the starting point (a).
  2. Having retreated 5 millimeters down, push the needle with thread from the front part of the fabric (b) to the back so that the beginning of the needle protrudes to the left of the starting point with a retreat of one millimeter (c).
  3. Push the needle from the right front of the fabric 1 millimeter from the starting point (d) so that the beginning of the needle protrudes in the center of the sheet 1 millimeter from the previous stitch.
  4. The needle should pass through the loop formed by movements b and c.
  5. Make a stitch down with an indent of 1 millimeter for fixation.
  6. Use the same technique to complete the leaf embroidery.

Remember, the key to successful embroidery is patience, practice and a gentle touch. Take your time to enjoy each stitch and enjoy the rhythmic movement of the needle through the fabric. With each finished petal and leaf, you’ll see your vision come to life, creating an exquisite work of art stitched together with your passion and creativity.
